The craft beer revolution has reached all corners of the 50 states. Around the country, quality breweries have sprung up to meet the demand for tasty and creative beer. Melvin Brewing, a growing brewery based in Alpine, Wyoming, explores some of the best craft beer that the United States has to offer.

Seattle

While the Washington area has been traditionally known for wine and coffee, Seattle has one of the highest microbrewery concentrations in the country. Washington State has an incredible 300 breweries, boasting such different styles as Northwest-style IPAs, blonde ales, and stouts. The craft beer scene in Seattle has been hopping since the 1980s, with many local brands coming to prominence nationwide.

When you are in Seattle, try Chopper’s Red Ale by Georgetown Brewing. The Imperial Rye IPA from Reuben’s Brews is another great choice. If you are looking for something a little different, try the Dubbel Entendre by Sound Brewery.

Portland, Maine

While the “other Portland” receives most of the hype, Portland, Maine is a great place for craft beer lovers to explore. Rising Tide, Allagash, Bissell Brothers, and Shipyard produce outstanding beers. The brewpub scene in Portland is alive and well, with many new and established pubs making the city a destination for craft beer lovers from all over New England and around the country.

In Portland, try Rising Tide’s Back Cove Pilsner, Ishmael Copper Ale, and Zephyr IPA.
